John was born in Centreville Mississippi, raised in the Baton Rouge area, and is a graduate of Louisiana State University. John has worked in the construction field since high school when he spent summers as a laborer for a local commercial contractor gaining experience in carpentry, steel erection, metal building construction, and brick masonry. Following graduation from LSU, John gained experience as a project manager on various project types ranging from college football stadium expansions to high rise office buildings and healthcare facilities. During college and the years following, John and his wife Wendra spent time in Bozeman, Montana, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Blacksburg, Virginia. John is now responsible for team development, business development, and strategic direction for Moran Construction Consultants
John is actively involved in the Baton Rouge community to expand existing programs and develop much needed programs for individuals with special needs as well as underserved youth. He is on the Board of Directors for St. Lillian Academy, a faith-based school providing exceptional education for students with communication and learning challenges with the goal of maximizing individual student potential to become active members of our community. John is a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Disability Affairs with a focus on housing for adults with special needs. John also sits on the Advisory Council for I AM, a non-profit focused on empowering children to know their value, discover their purpose, strengthen their voice, and promoting personal growth and character development. He regularly supports the St. Vincent de Paul Sweet Dreams Shelter for homeless women and children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Junior Achievement, and the National MS Society BP MS 150 bike ride fundraiser.
John enjoys spending time with his wife Wendra, daughter Willa, and parents Fred and Mary. When not spending weekends at the family farm, John is likely outdoors hunting and fishing with friends or in Montana visiting Wendra’s family. His other interests include LSU sports, cooking, and travel to explore and experience new cultures.
