Cary Street Station
Richmond, VAProject Description:
This Historic Tax Credit project consists of the restoration and conversion of the vacant Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) property located in the Carytown District of Richmond, Virginia. Constructed in 1902 and 1910, this 8 building, 7.4-acre property was once used as trolley and bus barns for GRTC. After sitting vacant for nearly 7 years, the buildings were renovated into multi-family apartments with 2 additional apartment buildings constructed with retail spaces. With a total of 156,141 gross square feet and 126,056 net rentable square feet, this property now houses over 150 apartments with the original windows, roofing, and masonry of the buildings kept and restored. Keeping with the historical aspect of the buildings, the original rail tracks and sliding doors were kept and can be seen throughout the property.
